About Us

Steve & Terri Irwin

We are... animal handlers, construction workers, receptionists, sales assistants, marketing consultants, human resources officers, teachers, drivers, writers, designers, artists, gardeners, entertainers, editors, cleaners, sculptors, photographers, website developers, tour guides, accountants, volunteers and veterinarians. We are a community unto ourselves – a team of over 500 who work together to create the wildest show on earth for our guests each and every day of the year, and to further live out our philosophy of Conservation through Exciting Education!

Celebrating 40 years

Celebrating 40 years at Australia Zoo

The Irwin family officially opened the Beerwah Reptile Park in 1970. Back then, the park consisted of four acres, a few species of wildlife and a small caravan - which the Irwin's called home. No one could know what the future held for this small zoological facility.
