We are... animal handlers, construction workers, receptionists, sales assistants, marketing consultants, human resources officers, teachers, drivers, writers, designers, artists, gardeners, entertainers, editors, cleaners, sculptors, photographers, website developers, tour guides, accountants, volunteers and veterinarians. We are a community unto ourselves – a team of over 500 who work together to create the wildest show on earth for our guests each and every day of the year, and to further live out our philosophy of Conservation through Exciting Education!

The Crew
The legendary khaki collective! Our dedicated crew members are passionate about wildlife and habitat conservation, and committed to creating a positive and memorable experience for each and every one of our guests, every single day. Meet the wonderful individuals who make up the Australia Zoo Crew.
Media Centre
We have created this area to provide easy access to visual and textual resources relating to Australia Zoo and its owners, Steve and Terri Irwin, for the convenience of Australian and international media. Our collection is always expanding and being updated with new events and information, so be sure to check in regularly.
Celebrating 40 years
The Irwin family officially opened the Beerwah Reptile Park in 1970. Back then, the park consisted of four acres, a few species of wildlife and a small caravan - which the Irwin's called home. No one could know what the future held for this small zoological facility.
Employment
A job at Australia Zoo is more than a vocation, it's a lifestyle - just ask any of our team members. Australia Zoo welcomes new crew members in many different ways, including our renowned volunteer program, school-based traineeships and apprenticeships, work experience, internships and online applications.
